The Den, a hidden speakeasy piano bar beneath 100 Wardour Street in London’s Soho, has reopened its doors having undergone a refurbishment that pays homage to the venue’s colourful musical roots. Offering world-class cocktails to the backdrop of soulful live music, The Den has been Soho’s best kept secret… until now!
Previously the site of the world-famous Marquee Club where music legends including The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac performed, The Den celebrates its musical heritage.
Chart-topping vinyls and vibrant artwork by acclaimed London artist, David Studwell, whose sought-after contemporary pieces are inspired by musical greats from the 60’s and 70’s, adorn the walls whilst stripped back décor, plush leather seating and moody lighting reflect its speakeasy vibe.
Live music from Thursday to Sunday reflects the venue’s musical roots with a rotating line-up of renowned pianist including Andrew May and Adrian Dixon from Thursday to Sunday, taking song requests from guests, as well as playing popular hits from Sinatra to Beyonce.
The cleverly designed vinyl record menu features an eclectic mix of innovative cocktails that are named after the legends on the walls such as ‘Smoke on the Water’ in honour of Jimi Hendrix, as well as a QR code giving guests access to an exclusive playlist.
Try Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, a delicious whisky-based cocktail with Disaronno and vanilla; or the tequila-based Purple Haze featuring all-spice liqueur, cranberry and ginger ale. Classic cocktails and premium spirits are also available, with Negronis and Manhattans popular choices, whilst light bites of crispy squid with chipotle mayonnaise and chicken taquitos can be ordered from the bar menu.
The Den is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm until late for walk-ins only. For spectacular live music, make sure to visit from Thursday – Saturday.
As the days get shorter and nights get darker, head into The Den – for those in the know in the heart of Soho.
