The French tradition of celebrating Epiphany (6th January) dates to the 14th century and luxury tea purveyor, Mariage Frères in Covent Garden, has two stunning Galettes des Rois (tr: king cake) to mark the date. Available from 2nd January, they are the perfect way to mark the end of the festive season whist prolonging its joy.
The Marco Polo Sublime, with layers of crisp black puff pastry and adorned with a glossy coat, is flavoured with black tea, filled with frangipane and speckled with candied blueberries and blackcurrants whilst the
brand-new Rainbow Rhapsody brings colour to bleak January. Flavoured with smooth white tea frangipane blended with a range of citrus fruits and topped with hibiscus-candied pineapple petals, this decadent and eye-catching patisserie is fit for royalty.
Available from 2nd January 2023, the Galettes des Rois serve 6-8 people and are priced at £45, and available from the Covent Garden flagship tea emporium on King Street.
