Celebrate King Charles III’s crowning in the Hertfordshire countryside at the stunning Sopwell House this bank holiday weekend (5th-8th May). Experience a touch of luxury as the Georgian country house pulls out all the stops with a regal two night stay complete with afternoon tea inspired by some of The King’s favourite cakes.
Escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a two-night Coronation Indulgence stay with a hearty breakfast, a three-course dinner in The Brasserie, a quintessentially British afternoon tea and use of the Cottonmill leisure facilities including indoor swimming pool, two hydrotherapy pools, sauna and steam room. With a plethora of treatments available, this break provides the perfect balance of indulgence and relaxation. Guests will also be treated to a complimentary British cheese plate on arrival to celebrate the Kings love of cheese and his patronage of the Speciality Cheesemakers Association since 1993.
The specially created Coronation Afternoon Tea starts off with delicate finger sandwiches featuring Coronation chicken on tomato bread and Smoked salmon and dill butter on brown bread alongside a wide selection of leaf teas. Welsh Cakes served with Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry preserve follow with some of the King’s favourite cakes providing the final flourish to this delightful afternoon tea (£34 per person). Indulgent choices include Earl Grey Macarons, Victoria Sponge and Sopwell’s signature Battenberg – created in honour of the marriage of Queen Victoria’s granddaughter to Prince Louis of Battenberg in 1884, whose son, Lord Mountbatten, once lived at Sopwell House.
Sopwell’s Coronation Afternoon Tea and Coronation Indulgence package will run from Friday 5th – Monday 8th May priced from £360 per night per couple inclusive of dinner, afternoon tea and use of the leisure facilities. For those just visiting for afternoon tea, the price is £34 per person (additional £11 with a glass of champagne).
