Bristol Welcomes New Pub With Rooms As Hort’s Townhouse Reopens
21 Mar 2023
Introducing Bristol’s newest pub with rooms – Hort’s Townhouse – as it reopens following an extensive refurbishment this Thursday 23rdMarch. Located on Broad Street, the stunning Grade-II listed Young’s pub has been beautifully redesigned into a glorious townhouse, serving up a menu which champions seasonal British produce, craft beers and cask ales, while upstairs you’ll find 19 boutique bedrooms.
The Pub
Sensitively restored to its former glory, Hort’s Townhouse is a celebration of the great British pub. Throughout the space, traditional features such as glass etchings and vintage leather chairs and booths have been incorporated into the design whilst a feature chandelier hangs in the blue-panelled dining room with eclectic artwork throughout.
The Menu
Led by Head Chef Michael Pooley, all-day menus focus on seasonal British plates which utilise local produce and fresh seafood. Influenced by nostalgic pub classics, expect hearty dishes such as Cured stone bass with grapefruit and caper dressing, a South Coast plaice with brown shrimp, new potatoes and samphire, to Lamb Barnsley chop with smoked bacon, broad beans and asparagus, and Gressingham duck breast with watercress salad, pickled fennel and cucumber. Sundays play host to Young’s signature roasts of West Country beef, Dingley Dell pork belly, Shropshire chicken breast, Wild garlic stuffed Welsh lamb shoulder or Celeriac and blue cheese pithivier, all served with fluffy roasties, double egg Yorkshires and seasonal vegetables.
Early risers can enjoy a hearty breakfast served daily, while the pub also offers a lunch menu of light bites, plus a quintessentially British afternoon tea with fresh pastries, scones and seasonal sandwiches.
The Drinks
Behind the bar, find an extensive drinks list of local craft beers and ales, alongside a selection of wines from across the globe. The perfect spot for after-work drinks, there is also a collection of classic cocktails to enjoy, from a Gibson, Old Fashioned and Picante to a barrel-aged Negroni and the Townhouse Spring Punch with Sipsmith vodka, Crème de Cassis, Mure & Framboise and topped with Nyetimber cuvée.
The Rooms
While downstairs is home to the pub, the upper floors play host to 19 individually designed rooms that deliver on comfort, providing the perfect base whether visiting for a romantic weekend break, a half term family break or visiting the city on business.
No two rooms are quite the same, from the cosy (perfect for a snug stay) to the loft (for something a little different). Some boast expansive windows and high ceilings, others feature quirky corners and separate freestanding bathtubs, but all come complete with an uber-comfy Hypnos bed, a rainfall shower, carefully curated mini bar stocked to the brim with treats and tipples, Nespresso coffee machine and dedicated working space. With interconnecting rooms, sofa beds and space for cots, there is somewhere for everyone to stay – from families and group holidays to wedding party guests and couple retreats – plus there are some dog-friendly rooms available.
Located in the heart of the city and a short walk from Bristol’s bustling shopping district, Hort’s Townhouse is now open and looking forward to welcoming those from near or far.
