World-famous The York Roast Co., who transformed the humble YorkyPud™ Wrap into an overnight worldwide viral sensation and well and truly got York back on the map, are turning their York Stonegate venue into a diner and shop, re-opening in March.
The brand-new diner and take away will be two storeys of roast goodness, with the first-floor seating 30 plus guests – after all, it’s so much easier to upload Instagram stories when you’re sat down. Hungry passers-by, once tantalised with take-away, will be able to take a load off as they take their fill of wrapped-up roasts and sandwiches, all freshly prepared in the downstairs kitchen. The York-based family-run favourite are investing £150,000 into the Stonegate refurbishment, giving their loyal customers an all-improved pit stop to relish in those roasties.
Remaining sympathetic to the building’s 16th century roots, expect solid timber tables and chairs complemented with natural, earthy tones, as well as a bright and contemporary geometric-pattern feature wall – what better backdrop could you ask for as you tuck into those meaty mouthfuls?
The YorkyPud™ Wrap, whose popularity has reached as far as Buenos Aires, is a giant Yorkshire pudding wrap stuffed with either pork, turkey, ham or beef, alongside roasted vegetables or fresh red cabbage slaw, stuffing and a drizzle of gravy. Those who enjoy a more traditional version of the British favourite can tuck into a classic roast meat sandwich, packed with your chosen meat and paired with delicious condiments. Why not top up your intake with sides of crackling, roast potatoes, or stuffing balls? You know it makes sense.
Can’t wait until March to get your fill of the roast dinner hybrid? Pay homage to their other York location on Low Petergate, head to Chester, Shrewsbury or Salisbury, or track them down on Deliveroo.
