Back and better than ever, Xier in the heart of Marylebone – known for its truly inventive cooking – has reopened with a brand new six-course tasting menu (£70 per person), alongside its established seasonally-changing, show-stopping 10-course tasting menu (£90 per person).
This really is food you can’t cook at home so if you’re stepping out post-lockdown and looking for a wow experience, head for Xier. The new six-course menu will give guests with less time to linger access to Head Chef Carlo Scotto’s incredible food, whilst for those with all the time in the world the 10-course menu is a must and will remind you what makes dining out so special.
Available for lunch and dinner from Wednesdays to Fridays, and for dinner only on Saturdays, the innovative tasting menus offer theatricality and unusual flavour combinations. Stand-out dishes include crispy pancake, fresh peas, cured duck, and wild lythyus; rose petal, salmon and foie gras; black cod in caramel miso, purslane, and BBQ nectarine; and british organic beef cheek with pickled green walnut and bone marrow. Both menus will include Carlo’s signature French Kiss to start, Hidden Pleasure for dessert and Swedish cheese with Xier’s fizzy grapes.
A vegetarian tasting menu features innovative plates such as goat’s yogurt, beetroot and plum extract; tacos with halloumi, mango salsa, guacamole and tomato; wild British nettle gyoza and geranium infused tea; and mushroom arancino with spinach and pickled green walnut.
The spacious (socially distanced) yet intimate restaurant offers a choice of three or four courses at lunch, Wednesday – Friday, for £35 and £45 respectively, adding a touch of refined elegance to your lunchtime.
Xier’s expert sommelier, Fillipo Carnevale, pairs premium wines and bespoke cocktails to perfectly complement each course. For those in search of alternative serves, the experienced bar team are on hand to mix up any number of contemporary concoctions. Signature cocktails include the Manzanita with Absolut Elyx vodka, absinth, apple liqueur and passion fruit; and Pink Cuban with Santa Teresa 1796 Rum mixed with mint leaves and topped up with Canard-Duchene Champagne Rose’.
Whilst Xier is located on the first floor, this dual restaurant features a more casual eatery on the ground floor – discover XR (open for weekend bottomless brunch, and Tuesday – Sunday for lunch and dinner) with its sharing-concept menu, championing organic, seasonal British produce and creative cocktails.
Xier and XR continue to follow government guidelines closely and have implemented the highest levels of hygiene standards in all public areas and in the kitchens. Strict health and safety measures are in place for both staff and visitors, with guests each required to provide contact details for track and trace upon arrival.
