Londoners, we’ve got good news! Gallio is open and it’s delivering* a brand-new style of pizza, alongside sharing bowls, salads and flatbreads, direct to your door. Using ancient grains to create a thoroughly modern, better-tasting and better-for-you pizza, Gallio offers up a menu that’s bursting with fresh, vibrant Mediterranean ingredients. Adventurous dishes and pizza creations have been devised in collaboration with Ben Tish, food writer, chef and culinary director of The Stafford Collection which includes Norma London. Move over sourdough, there’s a new better tasting pizza in town!
ALL ABOUT THAT BASE
So what’s different about Gallio’s pizzas? Other than the bold flavours and impeccably sourced Mediterranean ingredients that shape the menu, it’s all about that base. Stretched and fired to thin and crispy perfection, Gallio’s signature artisan dough is proved for 36 hours and uses a blend of ancient grains, natural yeast, sea salt, filtered water and extra virgin olive oil to deliver not only a better flavour, but also a whole host of nutritional benefits. High in protein and rich in antioxidants, the pizzas are also an excellent source of fibre – say goodbye to that post-pizza bloat!
Reflecting the diversity of ingredients and cultures found in the Mediterranean, pizzas are adventurous and take you on a culinary tour of the region. Toppings include combinations of spiced lamb with labneh, rose harissa and pickled chilli; and chestnut mushrooms with olive oil, spinach, Aleppo chilli and pumpkin seeds. The must-try summer special is a Ben Tish creation of Sicilian-inspired red prawns with grezzina courgettes, red chillies and wild fennel.
Pizzas are available with a gluten-free base option and with add-ons such as vegan ‘sheese’ as well as chillies, garlic and basil for even more flavour.
MEDITERRANEAN SHARING BOWLS
It’s not all about pizza though – the menu showcases the Gallio flair for fusing interesting ingredients to create delicious and inventive dishes. Reflecting the Mediterranean lifestyle, dishes are all about sharing (although too good to do so), and with everything made from scratch and freshly prepared in Gallio’s SE1 kitchen, this is feel good food that stands out from the crowd.
Choose from delicious flatbreads with dips such as basil nut-free pesto and homemade garlic aioli and colourful sharing bowls of beetroot borani with yoghurt, dill, Medjool dates, feta and walnuts; or Datterini tomatoes with chilli, fresh herbs, sumac and pomegranate molasses.
Salads sing with colourful flavour combinations such as a harissa marinated, grilled free-range chicken with fennel, rocket, orange and aioli; or opt for the nourishing plant-based bowl of quinoa with green lentils, spinach, avocado, spring onions, mint and parsley.
Desserts are all made from scratch and deliciously indulgent – there’s a sweet pizza topped with fig, mascarpone and wild mountain honey pizza, and a bitter chocolate and almond cake with orange flower water. Plus, there’s award-winning artisan ice cream from Hackney Gelato, and organic, fair trade certified, vegan-friendly soft drinks such as Gusto Sicilian lemonade with yuzu and Real Cherry Cola.
The menu offers exceptional value with pizzas starting from £6, sharing bowls from £4.90, small and large salads from £4 and £7 respectively and desserts at from £3.90. What are you waiting for?
