A French custom dating back to the 14th century, the Galette de Rois tart marks the end of the festive season and is traditionally eaten on Epiphany. For the very best in class, head to luxury tea emporium, Mariage Frères in Covent Garden, where a choice of two Galette de Rois, fit for a king, await.
A twist on the classic French frangipane galette, the Amandier Blanc stands out with its glossy black lustre and silver dragée taking centre stage. Infused with Mariage Frères signature Marco Polo tea blend, enjoy the subtle notes of fruits and flowers from China and Tibet, along with an Amandier blanc tea paste.
This golden puff pastry filled with a silky smooth, almond frangipane centre is infused with Mariage Frères’ delicate Green Almond tea blend. With hints of lavender, ripe fruits and green tea, the Vert Amande is a sure crowd-pleaser.
Each galette serves between six and eight and costs £45. Available from 2nd January in Mariage Frères’ Salon de Thé or for collection.
