The restaurants will donate £2 (before tax) to the charity for every cup of Green Tea sold in 2018. Every £1 donated by Nobu will generate at least £4.69 via the charity’s unique matched funding model, providing vital support for disadvantaged children.
From January 2018 to present, Nobu has raised close to £20,000 for The Childhood Trust via the Green Tea initiative and fundraising events. The restaurants will also support the charity via skills sharing such as marketing where possible.
Andrew Milne, Regional General Manager for Nobu Restaurants comments: “We are delighted to be working with The Childhood Trust, helping alleviate the impact of child poverty in London. It is a remarkable organisation that is close to my heart and we believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn, have access to a great education and have a fair chance at living up to their aspirations and potential. At Nobu, we are looking forward to making a difference by supporting this worthwhile and inspiring cause.”
The Childhood Trust targets 700,000 children currently living in poverty in London (approximately nine children in every class of 30). The charity’s network of over 150 projects provides practical, emotional and inspirational support delivered by trusted, caring adults. These projects help children to achieve their full potential, despite facing many challenges. The projects funded by The Childhood Trust deliver vital services such as; hot meals, mentoring, social work referrals and liaison, educational support, psychotherapeutic counselling, sports activities, arts and cultural activities and family support in the home.
“At a time when levels of child poverty are increasing, Nobu’s support will provide a lifeline for children struggling with poverty in the capital. This partnership is a great example of the way enlightened businesses can create lasting value in the communities that they operate.” Laurence Guinness, Chief Executive, The Childhood Trust.
