Idyllically situated on the beautiful banks of Little Venice, The Summerhouse, renowned for its superlative waterside dining, is taking things up a notch with the arrival of Head Chef Francisco Gonzalez and a new menu packed with fabulous fish dishes, seafood sharing platters, zesty salads and classic grills.
Starters include tuna tataki with boiled quail’s egg, spring onions and ponzu sauce; poached octopus, gratin dauphinoise, lambs lettuce and jalapeño mayo whilst fruits de mer platters come laden with rock oysters, Mediterranean king prawns and Canadian lobster. Fish mains feature the likes of whole baked seabass to share with green beans, almond butter and sautéed new potatoes; salmon fillet with saffron mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and caviar and a traditional IPA battered haddock with chunky chips, minted mushy peas and tartare sauce.
Round-off the meal perfectly with desserts including chocolate mousse topped with toasted pistachio; pecan tart with maple syrup and pecan ice cream and the ‘Chocolate Lovers’ plate to share, featuring hazelnut brownie, chocolate mousse, dark chocolate ice cream and white chocolate sponge.
Weekends are about leisurely brunches, served from 10am until 1pm, with dishes that range from the virtuous to the sinful. Healthy choices come in the form of granola with Greek yoghurt and berry compote; fresh berries with honey and yoghurt plus a whole host of super smoothies. For something more substantial, opt for the full English breakfast or Eggs Benedict, Royale or Florentine.
The talented bar team at The Summerhouse are on hand with a tempting array of classic and contemporary cocktails. With chillier nights ahead, the Summerhouse’s hot toddies and winter punch are set to be in high demand.
Perched on the water’s edge, this picturesque restaurant offers canal-side dining that feels more Hampton beach house than West London townhouse. Decked with light oak floors, whitewashed walls, blue and white striped furnishings and a scattering of seaside artefacts – expect a chic waterside ambiance, whatever the weather.
