A taste of summer comes to Covent Garden with the arrival of a chic Iced Tea Terrace from the world’s most exclusive purveyor of luxury teas and France’s oldest tea house, Mariage Frères. With French savoir faire, the Iced Tea Terrace on King Street is a first for Mariage Frères and is possible as part of the new summer pedestrianisation scheme to allow for outdoor drinking and dining in the wake of lockdown.
With Covent Garden returning to business and the stylish boutiques of King Street reopening, the Terrace is the perfect place to celebrate the city coming back to life this summer. On offer is the luxury French brand’s summer iced tea collection featuring 20 teas, each exclusively blended to be chilled for Mariage Frères. Choices include the brand-new Pink Cactus Red Rooibos, a perfectly pretty pink caffeine-free chilled pour; the Tokyo Mojito, a twist on the classic summer cocktail with flavours of mint, lime, yuzu; and vibrant Violetta with floral and violet notes. Tea-infused tipples are also available from the newly curated iced-tea cocktail menu; while away the hours with the Gin Cactus Bleu, a refreshing blend of cactus morsels, cucumber, thyme, and gin; or say santé with the Opéra Sunrise, a fruity green tea cocktail flavoured with red fruits and blue berries, basil, ginger and a little gin kick.
Guests can also dine al fresco with a selection of delicate savoury sandwiches or raise a toast to normality with a glass of crisp champagne, the perfect partner for a beautiful afternoon tea, complete with freshly baked cakes and exquisite French patisserie.
If the great British weather puts a dampener on the day, the restaurant will be open from 11am-7pm with social distancing and revised operation measures in place, to ensure the health and safety of all guests.
