JoHo SoHo Pops up at Cinnamon Kitchen Oxford
30 May 2018
Renowned chef Vivek Singh has brought his famous Indian street food to Cinnamon Kitchen Oxford with the launch of JoHo SoHo located on the rooftop of Westgate. Teaming up with Ryan Chetiyawardana aka Mr Lyan, regarded as the world’s best mixologist, the colourful alfresco pop up has a line-up of signature street food alongside a range of sustainable ‘Upcycled & Recycled’ cocktails. The terrace has been transformed into a summer oasis, where guests can kick back and enjoy great food and drinks whilst relaxing and watching the world go by.
STREET FOOD
Vivek Singh and his talented team have created a special JoHo SoHo street food menu of modern Indian delicacies that can be enjoyed on the terrace or perfect for shoppers on the go. Feast on small plates of Mumbai Chowpatty Bhelpuri (£4) – puffed rice, crisp chickpea vermicelli, peanut, spiced potatoes, tamarind and pomegranate; Papdi Chaat (£4.50) – chutney potatoes, crisp wheat, yoghurt and tamarind drizzle; Somasa Chaat (£5) – hot samosas, curried white peas, tamarind, yoghurt and coriander chutney; or tuck into a Chicken Tikka Wrap (£6.50) – stir fried chicken tikka with onion and peppers wrapped in roti.
For a heartier lunch, indulge in Cinnamon Kitchen’s one dish lunch for £12. Tuck into paneer butter masala; grilled pork ribs with honey chilli glaze; or a fiery lamb curry. Or, dine alfresco for dinner with either a two course (£19) or three course (£22) set menu with an array of signature starters like the samosa chaat or spicy Oxford sausage style veal and lamb kebab; mains of spiced Pollok or Hyderabadi style chicken korma; and top it all off with an ice-cold mango kulfi, an Indian take on ice cream.
UPCYCLED & RECYCLED COCKTAILS
A greener cocktail era is upon us and Mr Lyan is bringing his sustainable cocktails to Cinnamon Kitchen Oxford. Using upcycled and recycled ingredients like watermelon rinds, pistachio shells and chai to create syrups, cordials and liqueurs, Mr Lyan’s range of refreshing summer sips will be served in repurposed milk bottles, so you can drink them on-the-go. Highlights include aWatermelon Rind Tonic (£7.50), made with tequila and watermelon rind tonic syrup, as well as an herbaceous Mint Stem & Curry Leaf Collins (£7.50) combining Colombo gin, fresh lemon juice, mint stem cordial and soda water for a flavour-packed punch. Cool off with a Cashew Butter Milkshake (£5) blended with almond milk, cashews and crushed pistachios – dairy free, alcohol free and totally indulgent.
SUMMER TERRACE
Located just outside Cinnamon Kitchen on the rooftop of Westgate Oxford, the JoHo SoHo Terrace is an idyllic spot to retreat and unwind. Shabby chic festoon lights hang from the ceiling whilst flower pots with vibrant blooms are dotted along each table. Bright wicker chairs with comfy cushions are perfect for soaking up the sun and whiling away long summer days. As the sun sets, the terrace will be illuminated with fairy lights and lanterns, the perfect setting for enjoying sundowners and nibbles with friends.
Cinnamon Kitchen’s JoHo Soho pop up is open on the terrace, weather permitting, from now until September.
