An urban-cool new venue is turning up the heat and reclaiming the Harrogate bar scene: welcome to Foundry Project. A town that seems on the surface to be utterly quaint with its manicured gardens, polished antique shops and classic tearooms, is being shaken up with Foundry Project’s unrivalled line-up of furnace-hot cocktails, craft beers, weekend DJ sessions, and selection of light bites.
HARROGATE AS YOU NEVER KNEW IT
Nestled just moments from Montpellier Gardens in the heart of Harrogate’s busy town centre, Foundry Project is all about industrial, modern design taking inspiration from London’s edgy bar scene. Aged-steel beams and sheen metallic mesh panels contrast with exposed brick flooring and hand-painted concrete walls, all creating a distinctly stripped-back luxe vibe. By day, enjoy coffees and leisurely lunches on bespoke distressed Chesterfield sofas and classic mid-century chairs. When the sun goes down, the music goes up and tall bar stools upholstered in dark leather make the ideal perching point to sip on perfectly pulled pints and creative cocktails. Make your visit memorable with a snap or two from the custom-made photo booth, then head on over to the vibrant back bar to place those all-important orders.
Breaking down the music scene in Harrogate, cue Saturday night DJ sets at Foundry Project, where soul, funk, disco and house will be played from 7pm until close. On Sundays, Foundry’s Project’s Bottomless Brunch takeovers will transform traditional lunch with laidback DJ sessions full of endless Prosecco, Mimosas and Bellinis from 11am-5pm; a brunch menu designed for hangover heaven, mixed with a selection of the best chill-out tunes to really round-up your weekend in style.
SPIRIT OF THE NORTH
When it comes to drinks, Foundry Project gives focus to a creative collection of expertly crafted cocktails. Behind the blue marble-topped bar, shelves brim with heady spirits, experimental bitters, and a dizzying array of unusual additions to create something truly unique.
Classic cocktail options, including four tantalising takes on the Bloody Mary – smoked, Oriental, Mediterranean and virgin – share menu space with the likes of Smoked Saffron Gin Cup (Old Raj Saffron Gin, Martini Bianco, ginger, honey, lemon, char, and juniper-smoked); Beetroot Margarita (Patron Silver, Tequila, beetroot, cherry brandy, and lime); and Down in the Dark Mine (Kraken Black Spiced Rum, chocolate, cherry, chocolate bitters, and apple).
For those who know a thing or two about great craft beers, go all-American with Anchor California lager, Founders All Day IPA and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. On tap, Beavertown Gamma Ray Pale Ale and Stone Brewing Arrogant Bastard are served alongside England’s Redchurch Brick Lane Lager, and Aspall Suffolk Cyder.
For wine lovers, Foundry Project offers a worldly wine list, including six sparkling options to make any evening a special occasion. From Italian Pinot Grigio to Argentinian Malbec and Australian Shiraz, there’s something to suit every taste.
From early birds to night owls, Foundry Project has a delicious all-day offering available from 10am during the week and on Sundays, and 9am on Saturdays.
Amp up your lunch break with sharing dishes of caramel and chilli chicken wings; nachos laden with spicy salsa, Monterey Jack cheese and sour cream; and tomato and parmesan dough balls. Lighter dishes including salads and bunless burgers will send you back to work on a high.
More substantial mains, come in the form of filled-to-the-brim burgers laden with the likes of buttermilk fried chicken with spicy coleslaw; and 6oz dry-aged beef with black pudding, double cheese and American mustard mayo. Alternatively, go for that other favourite classic, pizza. Sourdough bases are baked in the wood-fired oven then topped with the likes of smoked salmon with crème frâiche; chilli chicken with sweet peppers and goats cheese; and salami pepperoni with sweet piquante peppers and fiery jalapeños.
At the weekend, lounge on the terrace listening to laid back beats or take things inside with breakfasts of traditional Full English; Hangover pizza topped with glazed smoked bacon, fried egg, onion jam, marinated mozzarella and hot sauce; and brown butter pancakes topped with your choice of sweet and fruity toppings. Fancy something a little different? Go for the Turkish eggs with whipped yoghurt, spicy chorizo butter and toasted sourdough or get your 5-a-day in early with smashed avocado, chilli and lime, sautéed mushrooms, roasted vine tomatoes and poached eggs on toast. Be sure to add a steaming cup of freshly brewed Caravan coffee or one of the delicious juices from Firefly and The Cracker Drinks Co.
Come experience something new in Harrogate and venture to Foundry Project.
