Hattingley Valley Introduces Two New Still Wines
18 Nov 2021
Just in time for the festive season, Hattingley Valley, the award-winning family-owned Hampshire winery, has announced the release of two new premium still wines to its boutique STILL By Hattingley collection – the STILL Pinot Noir 2020(£25) and the Reserve STILL Chardonnay 2020 (£25), created by Head Winemaker Emma Rice.
STILL Pinot Noir 2020 (£25)
The hot summer of 2020 resulted in ultra-ripe grapes, perfect for creating the warming STILL Pinot Noir. After being handpicked and carefully destemmed, the grapes were then cold soaked to extract colour, body and flavour. The wine was then pressed off the skins and transferred into old French oak barrels for malolactic fermentation. The vintage was aged for 12-months in the oak barrels, before being filtered and bottled. Ideal for cosy winter evenings, this smooth and versatile red wine is bursting with aromas of cherry, raspberry, strawberry and pomegranate, accented with rich hints of toast and dark chocolate. The fine tannins and balanced acidity provide an elegant structure and beautifully silky finish.
Reserve STILL Chardonnay 2020 (£25)
The carefully selected grapes for Hattingley’s first reserve vintage still Chardonnay, were handpicked and gently whole-bunch pressed. The juice was then fermented in temperature-controlled tanks to retain freshness and fruit purity, with the final blend aged for six months in old oak barrels before being filtered and bottled. Pale gold in colour, this reserve Chardonnay has pronounced aromas of ripe orchard fruit that follow through to the palate, and a creamy oak texture perfectly balanced with its natural bright acidity.
A small batch production, there are 2282 bottles of the STILL Pinot Noir 2020, and 1121 bottles of the Reserve STILL Chardonnay, both available to purchase now at www.hattingleyvalley.com
