Omakase, meaning “I’ll leave it up to you”, is the Japanese tradition of letting the chef take control of the entire meal and nobody does it better than Executive Chef Padam Raj Rai of Hot Stone restaurants in Fitzrovia and Islington.
The stunning tasting menus showcase top notch seasonal ingredients and exquisite gastronomy through a series of inventive dishes and special sushi. A truly unique and intimate experience, the everchanging menus are dictated by only the finest and most fresh produce available.
With ten seats available every Monday in Fitzrovia and just six on Tuesdays in Islington, every seat is at the Chef’s table. Chef Padam has over 19 years of experience under his belt, having previously worked at Tsukiji, Nobu and Zuma, and diners can expect some of the finest skilled Japanese food and an extraordinary dining experience to rival that of any of its West End counterparts.
Menus vary at each Hot Stone restaurant – in Fitzrovia, Chef Padam will be exploring innovative Japanese techniques and spotlighting the signature Wagyu beef with a 17-course menu whilst in Islington, the 14-course omakase will focus on classic nigiris and seafood.
Meticulously prepared courses include picture-perfect kobachi small plates, sushi, sashimi and Ishiyaki hot stone dishes featuring ingredients sourced from Japan and rarely seen in the UK. Diners can expect Japanese Wagyu; freshly grated wasabi; Sanpuku, the finest nori sourced from Japan’s Ariake Sea; Koshihikari sushi rice and aged soy sauce. Innovative desserts break boundaries with an aubergine ice cream and wagyu chocolate.
With two sittings at 5.45pm and 8.15pm, the Omakase menu is offered at £85 per person at Islington and £120 per person at Fitzrovia, with wine and sake pairings available at additional cost.
