26 May 2018
English Wine Week kicks off on 26th May, celebrating our country’s most talented winemakers. Ormer Mayfair, the restaurant within the luxury Flemings Mayfair hotel, arguably houses one of London’s largest English wine collections and will be showcasing the best of Blighty’s home-grown grapes with a paired menu. Guests can also book the hotel’s underground wine cellar, The Barrel Room, for exclusive English wine tastings.
Michelin-awarded chef Shaun Rankin and Director of Wine Andreas Rosendal have teamed up to create a stunning set menu bursting with fresh, seasonal dishes that pair beautifully with four of the best wines that England has to offer from the Ridgeview, Gusbourne, Albourne and Denbies Estates (£69 per person). Sample dishes from the ever-changing seasonal menu include Yellowtail ceviche with tomato jelly and avocado; lamb fillet with black olive caramel and polenta; and sea bream with fried oyster, cucumber spaghetti and Champagne velouté.
For a really special evening, head to the Barrel Room for an intimate English Wine tasting hosted by Andreas who, for £45 per person, will take you through five of his favourite English wines. A selection of canapés will also be served within the stunning surroundings of one of the hotel’s original wine cellars dating back to 1851. Bookings can be made via firstname.lastname@example.org.
