Double Dutch, producer of award-winning premium tonics and mixers, has announced the launch of a new seasonal tonic ‘Rhubarb & Pineneedle,’ just in time for Christmas. This limited-edition flavour perfectly captures the tastes and smells of the festive season in a bottle, elevating the most complex of cocktails and providing a merry non-alcoholic alternative.
At only 87 calories per serving, vegan-friendly and free from preservatives and artificial ingredients, the new flavour exemplifies the same unconventional flavour pairings and innovative techniques that put Double Dutch on the map when it launched in 2015.
Created in the same manner as all their flavours by utilising the process of molecular gastronomy, the new offering uses locally sourced organic rhubarb and aromatic pine needle. Both ingredients marry together beautifully providing an herbaceous and citrus flavour profile with a sweet end note. Currently, Double Dutch is the only brand using this technique to enhance rather than mask the taste of spirits.
The drink is the perfect accompaniment to citrus and lighter spirits providing a resonant depth and tangy complement to your chosen cocktail.
Co-founder Raissa de Haas said: “Winter drinks are rich and satisfying and we went through many taste tests to develop a seasonal mixer that embraces the spirit of Christmas. Our second limited-edition flavour of ‘Rhubarb & Pineneedle’ reflects our commitment to continuously introduce uniquely flavoured mixers of superlative quality to the market, and has been developed to be enjoyed with a range of spirits as well as alone.”
The new flavour is a welcome addition to the already nine-strong Double Dutch range which includes tonics, soda water, ginger ale and a ginger beer. The limited-edition ‘Rhubarb & Pineneedle’ is currently available for purchase from late November at Fortnum and Mason and online at Amazon for a retail price of £18.50 for a 24-pack.
