Located in the Bluewater shopping and leisure destination, Carluccio’s now boasts a stunning new look and new menu. Following a dramatic refurbishment, inspired by the late Antonio Carluccio’s first venue in Covent Garden, the long-established restaurant, deli and food shop has re-opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner and makes for a stylish pit stop pre- or post-shopping. And, with a spacious terrace overlooking Bluewater’s scenic lakes, parks and nature trails, it is an idyllic spot for summer al fresco dining.
The new look features vibrant open spaces, luxe velvet seating and cosy banquettes. Vibrant mustard yellow, burnt orange and sapphire blue are complemented by white and green marble tables with subtle lighting that changes the ambience from breakfast through to dinner and cocktail hour. Every detail has been considered, from the brand-new glassware through to striking artwork and colour ceramics that reflect Antonio’s creativity and love of art. A large outdoor terrace is one of the few outside spaces in Bluewater that overlooks the water, making it the perfect setting for a quick espresso fix or sundowner spritz.
It’s not only the interiors that stand-out, but the aroma of freshly baked, light and fluffy focaccia coming from the kitchen and the exciting new dishes. From antipasto to aperitivo small plates through to freshly made pasta, salads and main plates, every new dish is mindful of Antonio Carluccio’s motto of MOF MOF (minimum of fuss, maximum of flavour).
Included in the new menu are Antonio Carluccio’s heritage dishes, derived from his original Neal Street restaurant in London – Prawns Marinara (with plum tomatoes in a white wine sauce, chilli and fennel) and Pappardelle ai Funghi (mixed mushrooms in a white wine and porcini sauce)
For vegetarians, vegans and flexitarians, there’s a raft of dishes including the Garden Bowl (black rice with smashed avocado, chick peas, tender stem broccoli, red onions, semi-dried tomatoes, olives and mixed leaves), and Veganesca Spaghetti (olives, capers, tomato, chilli, raisins, garlic and herb breadcrumbs, hazelnuts, walnuts and pine nuts). Add to this dedicated gluten-free menu and all dietary requirements are taken care of.
Twenty years on Carluccio’s comes of age and, as it did when it first opened, once again becomes the standard bearer for accessible and affordable Italian dining, delivering on quality and Antonio’s original vision.
