A new concept for London and open to everyone, each producer will takeover the group’s restaurants on Maddox Street and Marylebone Lane, offering unprecedented access to a range of the world’s finest winemakers.
From 5pm-10pm, each winemaker will be on site to speak to guests during service. Customers will receive complimentary samples on the night, and wine flights will be available to order. A limited number of bottles will also be available to buy to takeaway each evening.
The Winemaker Takeovers are free to attend and un-ticketed; simply book a table to dine or walk in for post-work drinks to get involved. Events will be taking place throughout the autumn, the next event will take place on Wednesday 19th September with Klein Constantia Wines from South Africa, from 5pm-10pm at 28°-50° Maddox Street, hosted by Head Winemaker, Matt Day. Matt grew up in Johannesburg, but his keen interest in winemaking saw him relocate to the Cape to pursue an education in viticulture.
The unique location of the Klein Constantia vineyard in the Western Cape has a renowned cool climate, meaning soils of the estate produce terroir-driven wines, including the iconic natural sweet wine, Vin de Constance. The 2009 vintage was recently awarded 95 points by Wine Spectator and made their Top 10 Wine List in 2015, making it the first South African wine to ever make the Top 10 list.
